Platypus Power manufacture quality micro hydro electric
turbines and control equipment that provide renewable, reliable and cost
effective electricity in remote locations. Their systems are used for supply to
homes, farms, villages, tourist resorts etc in remote and rural areas not served
by grid electricity.
Platypus Power specialize in Micro Hydro design and manufacture. They have
turbines across Australia, in New Guinea, New Zealand, Vanuatu, and Zimbabwe.
The company has full accreditation for design of remote area power systems from
the Solar Energy Industries Association of Australia (SEIAA).
Platypus manufacture a range of off-the-shelf units that are available from
small DC battery charging turbines to 20 kW AC models. For units above this
size, site specific turbines are manufactured to order.

Cooking
This model uniquely incorporates a stove element which harnesses any excess
power for cooking and heating water. This cooking element makes use of the power
which is normally wasted when excess power is dumped during regulation via an
air element.
Adaptable
The Platypus Power unit is capable of high flows through a single nozzle. The
single nozzle is easily changeable to suit seasonal flows, maintaining maximum
output. All platypus units are compact with no bulky water manifold
configuration.
Low Maintenance
The M1/125 uses larger bearings that are easy to source. The generators are very
robust. Solid cast bars replace the rotor winding and enable the rotor to
withstand considerable over-speed. In addition they are totally enclosed,
ensuring good protection against dirt and water. They are designed for
continuous operations under industrial conditions. Runaway speed is
hydraulically limited. The turbine casing is made of corrosion resistant cast
aluminum and the runner is stainless steel.
This all amounts to reliability and uninterrupted power supply.

 Easy
to use Reliable Controls:
The unique Platypus Power Advanced Regulator protects your turbine - controlling
the speed of the generator to keep the voltage stable. The regulator module
includes the electronic control unit and dump element/s to keep the generator
constantly at full load.
Meters on the control panel give instant indication of turbine performance,
consumer power usage and dump current.
LED indicators display the generator status.
The regulator automatically diverts and dissipates unused energy through the
dump element/s.
Automatic shut down through the control board protects connected electrical
equipment and the generator from over-voltage.

The innovative hybrid Platypus impulse runner is directly coupled to the
generator. 316 marine grade stainless steel casing and runner resist abrasion

An integral Environmental Energies remote monitoring and/or control system can
be tailored to your specific needs. Easy to interpret, user-friendly information
on water flow, filter condition, bearings and other parameters can be
electronically relayed to you, or to our offices or agents, by telephone line,
mobile or satellite network.
It is essential for your safety and the correct operation of these machines that
they are installed in accordance with the relevant provisions of AS 3000 and AS
3010 and/or other appropriate standards in the country of installation.

Platypus PM1000 is a robust and reliable 750 watt battery charging micro hydro
designed to produce the highest possible output from your site.

Maximum efficiency is achieved using our advanced permanent magnet alternators
in combination with the unique Platypus impulse runner. Maximum output from low
and high flow situations.
Reliability & Durability:
Materials of the highest quality are used in construction eg. marine grade 316
stainless steel runner and marine grade aluminum casing to resist abrasion and
corrosion. Heavy duty bearing enable us to guarantee 5 years bearing life . No
brushes is another feature which means uninterrupted electricity and low
maintenance.
Simplicity:
A single, easily inter-changeable nozzle delivers the full range of flows. In
combination with the Platypus impulse runner, maximum output from seasonal flows
can be maintained. Simple installation is via a single 2" table D flange.
Innovative Controller:
The heart of the PM1000 Charge Control module is the innovative and proven
B-SR50 constant voltage taper current regulator. It allows adjustable boost for
maximum battery life. The Charge Control Module comes wired complete with finned
dump load elements, circuit breaker, battery voltage meter, charge current meter
and dump amp meter for easy installation.
